Sruthi Subbanna

Science Policy Analyst, South Asia Hub

Sruthi Subbanna has joined Future Earth as a Science Policy Analyst: Food Security and Malnutrition. She has been working in the field of research for close to a decade across multiple environmental projects over time, some of which include: preparing the environment report card for Bengaluru, working on the draft climate action plan for the state of Karnataka and for the city of Bangalore, projects related to carbon sequestration potential, solid waste management, water quality, air quality etc. She has, in the past, worked with different research institutes like Institute for Social and Economic Change, not for profit organisations like Environment Support Group and Centre for Sustainable Development, and think tanks like World Resources Institute. Sruthi is also a National Governing Council member of Bamboo Society of India for the period 2021-2024. Sruthi has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed journal papers and popular articles and has attended many national and international conferences. She has a doctoral degree in Forestry (Forest Ecology and Environment) from Forest Research Institute Deemed to be University which she completed in early 2021. Her doctoral work focused on the socio-economic and ecological significance of bamboo-based farm forestry across different agroclimatic zones. She holds a Master of Science from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, USA and a Bachelor of Science from Mumbai University, India. During her spare time, Sruthi loves to read books and is also an ardent terrace gardener.
