M'Lisa Colbert

Science Officer, Urban Projects

M’Lisa Colbert focuses on supporting Future Earth’s urban Research projects. She holds an Master of Global Development Studies from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. While at Queen’s, her thesis research was funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Broadly, her research explored the effect of recent social, political, economic and technological changes in the global energy economy on local access, consumption and governance with the goal of driving more equitable and sustainable post-carbon futures.Prior to joining Future Earth, M’Lisa worked as a research assistant with the Municipal Services Project (MSP) – an IDRC-funded ($2.3 million) research project that focuses on policy alternatives in municipal service delivery in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She also worked as a researcher and writer with the Transnational Institute (TNI) – a global research network committed to supporting global social movements and their struggle for economic, social and environmental justice.
