Born and raised in Osun State, Nigeria, Hammed completed his Bachelor's degree with First Class Honors from Osun State University and MSc degree from McGill University, as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. For his MSc research, he assessed the impacts of Land Use and Land Cover Changes on biodiversity and ecosystem function in the African Zambezi River Basin, using satellite imageries. Currently, Hammed is a Ph.D. student at Concordia University, Canada where he’s investigating the impact of climate change on species distribution using the Ecological Niche Model. Also, he’s among the first cohort of Leadership in Environmental and Digital Innovation for Sustainability- LEADs program.While at Future Earth, Hammed will be working, as a Research Assistant, with the Sustainability in the Digital Age (SDA) team to contribute to ongoing research efforts in the development of a digital ecosystem.Hammed is the Pioneer National President of Nigeria Society for Environmental Conservation (NSEC), a student organization, helping in the conservation and sustainability of natural resources. He’s an environmentalist, passionate about environmental conservation. Specifically, he’s interested in how the growing population can sustainably interact with increasing pressure from climate change, land use, and the effect on biodiversity and community structure.Hammed has attended many conferences in Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Canada, and the USA. Also, he’s a member of many national and International Organizations, such as the Quebec Centre for Biodiversity Science (QCBS), Society for Conservation Biology, British Ecological Society, Tropical Biology Association, among others.He desires to become an expert in the sustainable management of natural resources, research innovative approaches to tackling environmental crisis being posed to us by anthropogenic factors and contribute his knowledge and skills to this worthy cause.
