Prof Dr H Paramesh is a pediatric pulmonologist and environmentalist. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Divecha Centre for Climate Change, IISc, and is a Visiting Professor in universities in countries including the USA, Canada, Italy, Nepal and the UK. He is a member of the WHO-NGO Climate-Health Working Group, Geneva, and is an Adviser to the WHO, UNICEF, COMHAD and Alliance for Global Health, Geneva.


Anil Kulkarni

Dr. Kulkarni is one of the leading authorities in the world on Himalayan snow and ice cover. He has made significant contributions to the study of the Himalayan region by conducting snow and glacier investigations using remote sensing methods, glacier mass balance modeling, modeling influence of climate change on distribution of Himalayan snow and glacier extent, and snow and glacier melt runoff modeling. He worked as a Scientist/Engineer at the Space Applications Center in Ahmedabad for thirty years before joining the Indian Institute of Science as a Distinguished Scientist.

Dr. R. Srinivasan is a hydrogeologist who has taught and worked at Bangalore and Mysore University, Geomysore Services, National Geophysical Research Institute, and the Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (CAOS) at the Indian Institute of Science as INSA Senior Scientist, following which he started working at the Divecha Centre for Climate Change. At CAOS and DCCC, he has worked on pre-Quaternary glaciation events in Indian geological history and discovered evidence of glaciation 2.7 Ga old glaciation. He is presently working on fluoride, arsenic and uranium contamination of groundwater and related health effects.

Dr. Priyanka Banerjee completed her M.S. in Geography from the University of Calcutta, following which she completed her PhD in Chemical and Physical Oceanography from the National Institute of Oceanography. She is the Department of Science and Technology’s INSPIRE Faculty Fellow at the Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, where she is running a project on Constraining DUst CYcle and its CLimate implications over the northern Indian Ocean (DUCYCLIO).

Dr. Rohini Mattoo obtained an M.Sc. from the M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat, where her research work included unravelling the microbial diversity of the aquatic environment (Arabian Sea and a lake in Vadodara). She then earned her PhD at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. For her post-doctoral training at Johns Hopkins University, USA, Dr. Mattoo established fundamental tools and foundations in the field of tuberculosis research and also characterized a novel cell wall enzyme from an emerging opportunistic pathogen. At the Divecha Centre for Climate Change, Indian Institute of Science, Dr. Mattoo’s research focuses on climate change biology, microbiome, soil rhizosphere, and sustainable agroecosystems.

Dr Fahmida Khatun is currently the Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a leading think tank in South Asia. She has accomplished her Bachelors and Masters in Economics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. She did another Masters in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics and PhD in Economics from the University College London, UK. She did her Post-Doctoral research at the Earth Institute, Columbia University, USA. She was a Visiting Fellow at Christian Michelsen Institute, Norway, Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade, South Korea and Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy, India. Dr Khatun’s areas of interest include macroeconomic policy and management, climate change and environmental economics, financial sector, international aid effectiveness, international trade and WTO issues, youth employment, gender issues, interests of Least Developed Countries, and Sustainable Development Goals. She has published extensively at home and abroad. She is a columnist to the Daily Star and contributor to the East Asia Forum. She was a Director of the state-owned Janata Bank Limited during 2008-2011, and of the SME Foundation of Bangladesh during 2010-2013. She was a member of the Panel of Economists for the Eight Five Year Plan of Bangladesh Planning Commission.


Prajal Pradhan

Prajal Pradhan studied agricultural engineering and environmental management. He was a lead author of the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land and a contributing author of the AR6 IPCC WG II & III Reports. Prajal has experience in developing relevant research on climate change and sustainable food systems. He is an expert in food system emissions, food security, climate change, and sustainable development goals (SDGs). Currenlty, Prajal is a PI of the BIO-CLIMAPATHS project. His research focuses on understanding urban transformations, investigating impacts of climate change on bioeconomy, and identifying interlinkages between bioeconomy and SDGs.

He is Professor of Applied Economics and Development Studies and served as Dean of Faculty of Social Studies and Humanities from 2008 to 2011. His research areas include, amongst others, theoretical and applied economics, development issues and macroeconomics of the environment. In addition, Prof Sanjeev Sobhee has consulted on quite a few projects for various international institutions, namely, The World Bank, UNDP, UNEP, FAO, International Organization for Migration (IOM), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Southern African Development Community (SADC).
